Pear Shaped Diamond Engagement Rings
Pear cuts are for people who want something different. They're shaped like teardrops - round on one end, pointed on the other. Some call them teardrop diamonds. Either way, they're definitely not what everyone else is wearing.
How We Set Them
Solitaire Pear Rings
Simple band, just the pear diamond. The shape itself is the star here. Most people wear them with the point facing out toward their fingernail, but some flip them around. Your choice.
Halo Settings
Small diamonds around the pear create an oval or pear-shaped halo. Makes the whole thing look bigger and adds more shine. The halo can follow the pear shape or go completely round - both work.
Hidden Halo
Extra diamonds underneath where you can't see them from the top. Gives you surprise sparkle from the sides. Less obvious than regular halos but still adds light.
Side Stone Styles
Usually smaller pears or other shapes flanking the main stone. Tricky to balance since pears are asymmetrical, but when done right it looks really elegant.
Pavé Accents
Small diamonds in the band. Works well with pears because it doesn't compete with the unique shape. Just adds overall sparkle.
Three Stone Pear Rings
Center pear with two side stones. Side stones are usually rounds or other shapes since three pears together can look busy. Good way to get the pear shape without going full commitment.
Natural vs Lab Diamonds
Natural pears formed over millions of years underground. Lab grown pears are made in labs but have identical properties - same hardness, same light reflection, same everything except origin story.
Lab diamonds typically cost 30-50% less, so you can go bigger or save money. Both options look identical once they're set in rings.
Pear Cut Basics
The shape makes fingers look longer and more elegant. Pears are trickier to cut well than rounds - you need good symmetry and proper proportions or they look lopsided.
The pointed end needs protection from chipping, so most settings have a little metal guard there. Not a big deal, just something to know about.
Pears can have different length-to-width ratios. Some are more teardrop-shaped, others more elongated. Comes down to personal preference and what looks good on your hand.
We only carry well-cut pears with good symmetry. Wonky pears aren't worth anyone's time or money.
